Adventure Queen

It was a really rainy day on August 16, 2018. I worked on the blog at the house. We played with the boys and read books.

Ivan and I took George and Theo to the Adventure Island’s Soft Play Area at 5:45 pm.

The boys loved playing in the indoor playground. It was fun to climb and play with the boys and hang out in the massive ball pit.

We walked to Padrino for dinner. Ivan and I shared the penne arrabiata and mushroom with goats cheese, rocket and grilled onions for our appetizers. Ivan had the Fiorentina pizza while I had the Primavera pizza.

The food was so delicious again!

Ivan and I went to Leigh-on-Sea with George, Theo, Denise, and Ken on August 17th. Lunch was at Leigh Bistro for their 2-course menu. Ivan got the grilled sardines and I had the mushroom soup for our starters. Ivan ate the almond and goat cheese salad while I had the pan roasted chicken supreme. My chicken was lovely. Ken shared the tasty raspberry cheesecake with everybody.

Ivan and I parked the car at Leigh train station’s parking lot. We walked to the cobbled streets of Old Leigh with the boys. Ivan’s parents met us there. It’s a lovely quaint street filled with restaurants and shops. Some of the restaurants specialize in cockles.

George and Theo shared a chocolate ice cream cone. Ivan and I each had a Feast ice cream bar.

Went to the beach and let the boys play in the sand with their bucket and spade.

It was time for tea. Everybody walked to Sara’s Tea Garden. It’s a lovely tea place with outdoor seating.

Ivan and I have been here before with Ivan’s parents. We got lots of tea and fruit scones. George and Theo loved the scones with clotted cream and jam. The scones were so tasty!

Denise and Ken took the boys home. Ivan and I got the train up to London.

Me and Tower of London

We walked around Soho. It has gone upscale since the last time we visited 3 years ago.

Many retail shops are being built. We’ve noticed lots of skyscrapers in London. Ivan thinks it’s becoming like New York.

Ivan and I went to see Everybody’s Talking about Jamie. It’s a musical based on a true story about a boy named Jamie. He gets teased at school about being gay. He reveals to the audience that he wants to be a drag queen. Jamie gets the opportunity to perform as a drag queen.

Everybody's Talking about Jamie musical

This musical has a great story. Ivan and I loved all the songs. We can’t stop playing the soundtrack. It’s such a wonderful & fun musical. John McCrea was amazing as Jamie. He’s a great singer and dancer. Jamie’s mum played by Rebecca McKinnis has a fabulous voice. Go see it if you’re ever in London. They’re making an Everybody’s Talking about Jamie movie.
